La Mercy is a quiet secluded village on the shores of the
warm Indian Ocean. A coastal conservancy in South Africa, with restaurants,
shops, theatre, a casino and sporting facilities close by and excitement of the vibrant
port city of Durban just down the road.
La Mercy is blessed with a
strong Indian heritage. It has an excellent primary school and two renowned
orphanages. It also boasts a community hall and is well served with religious
facilities including a Mosque, two Temples and two Christian institutions.
La Mercy has approximately 450 families / homes and is growing with a liberal mix of race groups. The smaller villages of Seatides, Casuarina, Westbrook and Desainager lie close by and there are 2 informal settlements, Polani with around 200 shacks and Lungelani with about 350.
La Mercy offers rich Zulu culture, with easy access to big
five game reserves plus the World Heritage Sites of the beautiful
iSimangaliso (St. Lucia) Wetland Park and majestic uKhlahlamba (Drakensberg)
mountains.
